Bobby lived one or two doors down from Michele Marquardt and 1 block from me.  Countless are the times we and many others all got together and laughed and played.  Bobby was so precious as a person that I am pretty sure every girl around had a crush on him at some time or other.  What an infectious laugh he had!  He was always FUN, always funny, and so upbeat.
He was definitey the first Catholic I knew - an anomoly in our neighborhood growing up.  He certainly gave all of us a good impression of Catholics. I am not sure whether or not he stayed in the Catholic Church, but I have no doubt where he is NOW.  Rest in Peace with God and the heavenly hosts, Bobby.

From Larry Armstrong on August 16th, 2019
Bobby and I met in 7th grade at Handley where we were in Mr. Pharr's math class and were fierce competitors to be the first to complete the cryptograms Mr. Pharr would occassionly assign. Having come from St. Rita's Catholic school, Bobby was consideralbly better at mathematics than most mere Protestants. Bobby had a great sense of humor and delighted in creating profane nicknames for our teachers that I will not mention here. Suffice it to say, I could never address Mr. Buckner without cracking a smile. We also took drivers ed together with coach Runnels. He and I had our first real job working at Ashburns Ice Cream in the old Fair Oaks shopping center. Bobby was determined to work, save money, and buy a nice car. This came to fruition when he bought his much loved brand new 1968 Camaro which he drove like a wild man--eight trac player blaring. Alas, our friendship began to wane our senior year as Bobby became interested in the drug culture. I'm afraid a few years living in San Francisco did him no good. When he moved back here he was still the good hearted, humorous guy I had known. I was very deeply saddened to find out  shortly after he died that AIDS killed him and I never even knew he was sick. What a grievous loss. I miss that boyish smile of his. It's enough to make a grown man cry.

Bobby's dad had a TV sales and repair store on Lancaster. We used to gather in his den, as he had the first color TV we had ever seen, to watch The Wizard of Oz. I bought all my early Beatles albums from his dad's store.
Bobby and I rode a city bus from the corner of Jewell and Milam downtown to watch the Beatles' movie "A Hards Night" in 1964. He was a good friend. I learned how to play Bridge with Bobby and his sister.

Image I met Bobby when we were 5 years old.  He lived down the street from Michelle and we all played OUTSIDE in the good ol' days.  Our mothers signed us up for pottery class at the Fort Worth Science Museum where we made ashtrays. And our friendship continued until graduation.  He was kind, generous, and sweet.  I will always remember him as a gentle soul.

Love you, Bobby

Crazy as it may seem, I remember Terry and Tim both when we were wee little ones - about three years old.  We were singing in a circle during some sort of chldren's gathering at the Poly Baptist Church.  We were singing, "This Little Light of Mine."  I take solace in knowing that Terry's Light continues to shine brightly.  It is also comforting to know that he touched many of our lives in the time he had here.  Rest with God, Terry.

Grant was the most talented and gifted artist I ever had the gift of being friends with. Whether it was camping in the mountains of New Mexico or camping in Duck Dunn's Memphis. Tennessee recording studio while recording Willis Allan Ramsey's album for Shelter Records. Grant was special. I last saw him at his brother Mark's house 4 days before he died. Grant was a great friend.

Although, I had several different boyfriends through the years, Chuck was my first crush.  He was in Meadwbrook Elementary School with me (and many others of you).  We were in first grade, and he was just adorable, friendly, nice, and, cute as a button.  You just don't forget your very first crush! I was very sad to see that he was no longer with us.  Through all the additional 11 years of school, plus all these other 50, I remained fond of this wonderful soul. Rest in peace, Chuck.  Mary Jo

Jimmy Day was a joy to know.  Although, he was not with us long, he made a tremendous impact on our class.  He brought such joy, friendliness, and fun that you couldn't help but love him!  As JD Butler said about all of us being frozen in time, Jimmy Day is definitely frozen in my mind with his beautiful smile.  We miss you, Jimmy.

Debbie, you were a wonderful friend to have in the neighborhood.  We could walk to each other's houses and often did.  We spent many nights together, had tons of adventures.  One of those adventures changed my life substantially for the next 10 years.  It was when you asked me to go visit Larry McCarter for you when he was sick in bed in the eighth grade.  Well, you know the rest of that story... We stayed friends all the way through school even though we pursued very different paths.  I remember when we were thinking about being roommates following graduation, and, everyone kept saying how different we were.  Perhaps they did not know how similar we were, too.  You were a lovely person and a true friend for all times.  We do miss you and take solace in knowing you are at Peace forevermore.

Linda was kind, sweet, no pretense, Christian woman.  We met in high school and together with Susan Dunlap and Donna York made a group of four girls who became women together.  We kept in touch at Christmas with cards and Linda always remembered my birthday. Then about 20 years ago we started having lunch every year usually right after Christmas.  Linda started this and from then on we met at least once a year and in the last 10 years twice a year.  We became friends again as adults.  What a joy it was to know her.  She became the school librarian in Celina and I can imagine the kindness that came from her must have made the library a special place.   Susan, Donna and I restarted our lunches this year and raised a glass to Linda.  She is missed.

Linda Hall was a very sweet and special friend from high school days. We were definitely a “Mutt and Jeff” friendship, as Linda was tall and I still am very short!  Linda and her “soon to be” husband, Olan and I and my “soon to be” husband, Butch attended our Prom together!  What fun memories those are!  I was looking forward to seeing Linda...she will be sadly missed!

David was a musical genius! His gift ended at much too young of an age. His brother Jim gave tribute to David during Jim's writing of the screen story for the movie "Hook". David and I were EHHS Band friends and sang in the youth choir of Meadowbrook UMC. David and his parents, Alice and Al, were host to many post-football game band parties during our senior year. I was fortunate to have had a short visit with him shortly before his death and we recounted years gone by.  David was a thoughtful man. We can only imagine the contribution this musically talented man would have made to our world.

From Larry Armstrong on August 16th, 2019
David and i were in Mrs. Gwen's homeroom in the homemaking classroom sitting at the same table for three years along with Don Levy, Jeanie Shipman and others. I also had my locker next to David's where I could see that he was smart enough to take Latin. Although he came across as a gentle soul, David was also extremely competitive. He did not excell at sports like his father and brother, but he was an excellent swimmer and could have been on the swim team if he'd chosen that. Instead he concentrated on becoming an accomplised flautist and succeeded at the highest level. He was accepted at the New England Conservatory of Music as one of the top flautists in the US. Later he was invited to join the New York ProMusica widely known for excellence in Baroque and Renaisance music. The last time I saw David he was teaching himself the harp (no small challenge). He was a warm and sensitive man with strong convictions. Such an irreplaceable loss at the age of thirty-seven. Good night good friend.

For me, he stood out by his indomitable spirit!  He just never gave up and was an ispiration to many.  He was also increibly cheerful and funny.  I was  really looking forward to hearing what all he had been up to for the past 5 decades.  You are missed.  Rest in Peace.

Terry lived just one block down from my house and right behind Michele Marquardt's house.  There were so many of us  in our class that lived in a two block area, that it would be hard to count.  But many were the days we played outside together and great was the fun we all had together.  Terry was always adorable, fun, honest, and a steady friend.  It was with genuine sadness that I realized Terry was no longer with us.  Rest in Peace, dear friend.

Jim and I had fun running around at times in my red 1964 Valiant. One afternoon, Jim opened a pack of Tiparellos as I was driving. He lit one for me, a nonsmoker, and handed it to me as I was turning a corner. I fumbled the firestick, singed my hand, and burned the arm rest. It didn't end there. After a stop at Oakland Park Jim pulled the passanger door shut and in the process pulled the door arm rest completely off. Jim was an entertaining guy. It was saddening to learn of Jim's passing several years ago.

I met Roger the first day of summer band practice at EHHS our senior year. Roger was a fun loving guy. He was always trying to fix me up with someone. He was instrumental in lessening the anxiety I experienced entering a new school as a senior. At a band contest in Oklahoma he and I helped the girls of the Richland Hills Band move into their dorm. At this same contest my instrument was "stolen". Roger loaned me the piccolo he had in reserve. In our production I marched and trilled the piccolo along with him. Roger, David Stone, and I had many fun times during our senior year. Roger may be gone, but many fond memories remain.
